Dual Fuel Heat Pump System Installed in Duluth, GA image

This one was a full dual fuel upgrade for a homeowner in Duluth. We installed an Amana S Series AZV7SA48 - a 4-ton inverter heat pump with a variable speed compressor rated up to 19 SEER2. That efficiency rating matters. It means the system works smarter, not harder, adjusting its output based on what your home actually needs instead of just blasting on full power every cycle.

The other half of this setup is a 100,000 BTU, 96% AFUE two-stage gas furnace with a variable speed blower motor, paired with a 5-ton horizontal coil. That horizontal configuration is what made this crawl space install work cleanly. The furnace and coil are tucked in tight, plumbed, wired, and ready to go - nothing sloppy, nothing cutting corners.

Here is the part that makes dual fuel setups worth talking about. The heat pump does the heavy lifting on heating and cooling for most of the year. It is efficient and consistent. But when temperatures really drop - the kind of cold that makes a heat pump work overtime - the gas furnace takes over automatically. You get the best of both worlds without thinking about it.

For homeowners in north Georgia, this kind of system makes a lot of sense. Winters here are not brutal enough to need gas heat every day, but they are cold enough that you want it available when it counts. Dual fuel gives you efficiency when conditions allow and raw heating power when they do not. That balance is hard to beat.
